It's (Tailgate) Party Time!
Going into our third week with a respectable 2-0 record, we figure it's time to have a party -- a tailgate party. On Saturday 17 September, after our 11:00 am home game against the Fort McMurray Ravens, we are having a barbeque -- and parents and siblings are invited to join us! This event is being generously support by one of our sponsors, Mohammed Moussa.
Mustangs to Play at Esks Half-Time Show
The Atom Mustangs have been selected to scrimmage against the Sherwood Park Warriors as part of the half-time show when the Eskimos face the Montreal Alouettes on Friday 23 September. This game is part of the Salute to Minor Football Night and is sponsored by Tim Horton's, who also provides us with tickets to attend all Edmonton Eskimos home games. Go Mustangs!
Pre-Season Jamboree & Tournament
Our pre-season jamboree and tournament was a success and hopefully a lot of fun for the players. On Saturday we "lost" our first scrimage 12-6, "won" our second 21-0, and tied our last one 0-0 (we called it half way through as the players were hot and exhausted and we had a couple injuries, etc.). On Sunday we won both our games, 26-0 against the Storm and 19-0 against the Eskimos.
All in all, the coaching staff thought the kids played great, even though many of them played some downs at positions they hadn't practiced much if even at all! This was a great run through of our offense and defense before our regular season opener this upcoming Saturday in Sherwood Park against the Eskimos.
