There are many things that have to happen on and off the field for an organization to be successful. Below is an non-exhaustive list of things that happen at some point in the season for our kids to have a great football experience. See how you can help, and be a part of the team!

1. SCHOOL FLYER DISTRIBUTION

A volunteer is required to obtain sufficient flyers and then attend at the appointed school to ensure that the flyers are distributed to each child in the school.  This would include grades 3 through to grade 9.

2. IN PERSON REGISTRATION HELP

The volunteer’s duties would include attending on the date scheduled for in-person registration and assist with completing application forms, weigh-in, height measurements, receipt of funds etc.  The volunteer should have some familiarity with the Mustang organization in terms of philosophy, practice schedules, spring camp, coach expectations, practice fields and home fields.

3. ROAD SIGN ADVERTISING

The duties will include contacting the appropriate advertising agency to arrange for the timely and strategic placement of road side signage, contents and wording would have to be approved by a director.

4. COMMUNITY ADVERTISING

The volunteer will arrange for some form of notice concerning Mustang football in community news letters and/or advertising (by way of a Mustang‘s poster) in community newspapers such as the Riverbend Rag.

5. PRACTICE FIELD LIGHTING

This volunteer would be responsible for canvassing business in the community with a view to obtaining generator type lighting for the month of October at reduced prices or on a charitable basis.  Will also need to arrange the transport of the generator to and from the practice fields in the month of October.

6. EQUIPMENT TRANSPORT

Volunteer would assist in transporting all the football equipment to the designated location for equipment handout.

7. EQUIPMENT HANDOUT

Volunteer would be required to attend one or two evenings to assist in all aspects of equipment handout at the time and place designated by the organization.  Familiarity with the fitting and adjustment of equipment would be helpful but if the person does not have such familiarity, there are administrative tasks to take care of during equipment hand out day.

8. PROMOTIONAL TABLES

Volunteer would be required to spend an afternoon at a mall such as Southgate and sit at an information table.  The person would hand out flyers/posters and answer general inquires regarding Mustangs football and/or otherwise promote the organization.

9. LEAGUE LOTTERY

If this proceeds, we need a coordinator to distribute tickets, collect money and account for the tickets that we are required to sell.

10. LEGACY ISSUES

The duties of this volunteer would collect the photographs from previous years and have them framed so that we have a running history of the football teams that have been fielded through the years.  This person could also assist in obtaining some form of plaque or trophy in honour of Kevin Barkwell (“Heart and Soul” award).

11. GAME DAY PROGRAM

This person’s responsibility would include the preparation of the game day pamphlet, recognition of sponsors and the distribution of the pamphlets on game day.

12. MANAGER FOR EACH TEAM

Duties include assisting the head coach with any communication or things that need to be done during the football season such as assisting the Registrar with collecting incomplete registration information.

13. REGISTRAR

Duties include collecting player registration and registration fees, ensuring information is complete and entered into the CDMFA data base, and reporting registration data to coaches.

14. TEAM PICTURES

Arranging and coordinating team and individual photographs and distribution of team photos.

15. SPRING CAMP

Assistance will be required for food, beverages and distribution of T-shirts etc.

16. TEAM TRAINER

Someone with expertise in diagnosing and treating injuries who is able to attend at practice and games.

17. ACCOUNTING

Someone with a financial accounting background to prepare financial statements (income expenses and assets/liability statements).

18. BANQUET ORGANIZER

Someone to coordinate the year-end windup.  This would include booking a facility, estimating costs and coordinating the selling of tickets for the year-end banquet.

19. MERCHANDISE

Someone to coordinate the ordering, selling and distribution of Mustang promotional wear.

20. DONATION COORDINATOR

Duties will include pursuing corporate and individual sponsors and following up to ensure that the Mustangs organization does what it promises to do in terms of sponsor recognition.

21. VIDEO COORDINATOR

Finding or appointing someone to video each of the football games; appointing or finding someone to create the Mustangs’ year end video; and finding/appointing someone to be the video distributor (that is someone who copies the game films and makes them available for sale).

22. EQUIPMENT MANAGER

Duties may include the acquisition, storage, maintenance, cleaning, fitting and distribution of equipment, and being available at practices and games for on-field equipment repair and adjustment.

23. GAME DAY ASSISTANCE COORDINATOR

Duties would include finding/appointing volunteers to sell 50/50 tickets on game day and then remit the funds to the Mustangs football club; finding three volunteers to attend to the yard sticks on game day; finding a PA announcer/spotter for home games; finding a score clock operator for home games; and finding a scorekeeper who will print and complete game sheets and submit them to CDMFA.

24. CDMFA REPRESENTATIVE

Duties include attending CDMFA meetings as a representative of the Mustangs organization and reporting back to the organization.

25. LEGAL

All things necessary to maintain the corporate society, corporate resolutions, privacy rules, amendments to waiver forms, filing society returns and generally providing advise on corporate governance and legal issues.

26. WEBSITE MAINTENANCE

Duties include maintaining and updating the Mustangs website and providing timely news to parents and players.

27. RECRUITING

Duties may include assisting the coaches and identifying and recruiting prospects; attending soccer games, ball hockey games and generally promoting the game of football and the Mustangs organization.
